POSITIONCertified Occupational Therapist Assistant (C.O.T.A.)

                     

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Completion of course requirements for C.O.T.A. licensing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  2. O.T.A. Certification.
  3. Two years clinical, pediatric experience with Special Needs students preferred.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct screenings and assessments as a part of the Chapter 766 evaluation process.
  2. Itinerant therapeutic intervention for Special Education students pre-school through high school.
  3. Serve as a consultant to both Regular and Special Education staff.
  4. Serve as a consultant to Adapted Physical Education Teachers.
  5. Participate in in-service training for Regular and Special Education staff.
  6. Attend evaluation meetings as an active participant, re: writing general and specific objectives for Individual Educational Plans.
  7. Conduct periodic meetings with parents to foster a better understanding of Occupational Therapy.
  8. To write reports as required by federal and state agencies, and the Fall River Public Schools.
  9. Perform other appropriate duties at the direction of the Director of Special Education.
  10. Confer regularly with Registered Occupational Therapist concerning screenings, evaluations and educational plans.
