The Superintendent of Schools announces the following positions to support
students in the Extended School Year (ESY) program this summer.


Special Education Autism Specialist/BCBA


Extended School Year Program


DATES: 7/5/2024-8/3/2024


HOURS: 8:30 am to 12:30 pm = 4 hours per day
4 days per week Monday thru Thursday


TITLE: ESY Special Education Autism Specialist/BCBA


QUALIFICATIONS:


? Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Special Education or Related Field


? License as a Special Education Teacher preferred


? BCBA license required


? Prefer a Minimum 5 years experience of students with ASD


? Strong Collaboration/ Consultation skills


? Excellent organization skills


? Excellent communication and presentation skills - both oral/ written


? Extensive knowledge of Special education regulations/ LRE/ FAPE

 

REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator/Program Director


SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES:


Including but not limited to:


? To improve/ enhance the educational experience for students with
intensive special education needs, including but not limited to students
with ASD


? To provide staff training to a variety of audiences and in a variety of
formats regarding students with intensive needs and/or ASD


? To become familiar with the unique needs of each student diagnosed
with or suspected of meeting the diagnostic criteria as a student with
ASD


? To assist staff and communicate with parents regarding the program
design, implementation, and monitoring of special education programs
for students with intensive needs


? Through a variety of methods (individual consultation, seminars, topic
related trainings, etc.), to increase the knowledge base of all staff
working in the public schools regarding the unique needs of students
with intensive special education needs and/or ASD


? To provide resources for teachers and support staff in assessment,
instruction, curriculum modifications and the development of social
skills, all aimed at improving the total educational experience for
students with intensive needs and/or ASD

 

? To observe target students in a variety of settings for purposes of both
data collection and to provide consultation to educational team
members, regarding curriculum, instruction and behavior programs


? To provide training for non-disabled peers with regard to
understanding and assisting peers with intensive special education
needs and/or ASD


? To design and monitor a variety of assessment systems to document
student progress


? Any/ all other duties assigned by the Site Coordinator/Program
Director related to the education of students with intensive needs
and/or ASD


? Strong communication skills


? Team player


? Good attendance


? Be organized and able to multitask


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


? Able to sit on floors and/or small (preschool size) chairs, squat in
classrooms or playgrounds, and/or stand for extended periods of time


? Able to type on computer


? Able to lift up to 40 pounds


? Able to use wheeled cart to transport books, boxes of paper, and other
materials needed for presentations

 

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly rate in accordance with
the FRPS Administrators Association Contract plus differential
