The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:
Position: Occupational Therapist (O.T.)
Job Description: The Occupational Therapy assistant works with students with disabilities by implementing the prescribed occupational therapy process. They are responsible for developing and writing the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP), and overseeing the Occupational Therapy Assistants who are implementing the plan prescribed in the IEP.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Formulate, write and implement Individual Education Plans and attend IEP meetings
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and/or graduate students and clinical fellows
- Provide consultation to general education and special education staff regarding student needs and best practices
- Administer a variety of standardized assessment tools, write detailed reports, summarize the results and provide recommendations to teams
- Monitor student progress through the collection of data
- Adapt and modify the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible
- Meet all district, state and federal requirements for the program to which you are assigned, including IEP and Progress Report deadlines
- Create a positive educational environment for all students using a multi-tiered system of supports
- Use professional quality communication skills to convey information to the student’s team
- Remain current with accepted and appropriate instructional theory, practice and research. Including engaging in regular and strategic professional development to stay current in best practices for diverse learners
Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree preferred
- Current certification through the Board of Allied Health Professions
- Prior experience working in an educational setting
- Demonstrate collaborative instructional ability
- Experience working with students with disabilities
The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Fall River Educators' Association contract. Continued employment is contingent on work performance, program need, and funding.
