The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:

POSITION:     Engineering Instructor CVTE

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Massachusetts Educator License or eligible for License in Vocational Engineering Technology or Academic Technology/Engineering, 5-12
• Experience in Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Curriculum in Engineering preferred
• Electronics experience a plus

POSITION SUMMARY:  To help each student develop competence in the skills and knowledge required by the STEM and Engineering fields to assist and to motivate student to apply their knowledge in the laboratory setting; to encourage students to explore engineering related fields in order to develop a career pathway.

REPORTS TO:  Director of Career Vocational and Technical Education

RESPONSIBILITIES     

1. Draws on the content of the relevant curriculum frameworks to plan activities addressing standards that will advance students' level of content knowledge.
2.  Identifies prerequisite skills, concepts, and vocabulary that students need to know in order to be successful in a learning activity.
3. Identifies reading and writing needs that must be addressed for successful learning.
4. Plans sequential units of study that make learning cumulative and that are based on the learning standards in the frameworks.
5. Draws on the results of formal and informal assessments as well as knowledge of human development to plan learning activities appropriate for the full range of students within a classroom.
6. Plans lessons with clear objectives and relevant measurable outcomes.
7. Plans the pedagogy appropriate to the specific discipline and to the age and cognitive level of the students in the classroom.
8. Incorporates appropriate technology and media in lesson planning.
9. Uses information in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to plan strategies for integrating students with disabilities into general education classrooms.

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Fall River Educators' Association contract. Continued employment is contingent on work performance, program need, and funding.
