The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:

 

POSITION:Director of Research,Data, Assessment, and Accountability

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possession of a valid appropriate Massachusetts license; (Principal, Supervisor/Director, Superintendent/Asst. Superintendent)
  2. Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS);
  3. Three to five years of successful site level or district level leadership
  4. Proficiency in assessment software and Microsoft Excel;
  5. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; and
  6. Excellent time management, organizational, human relations and interpersonal skills.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:This position plans and directs student assessment and accountability programs as defined by the District's strategic plan; oversees and monitors the processes and procedures, guidelines and compliance issues; provides leadership and support to schools in analyzing academic performance data as well as professional development of data analysis and professional learning communities; monitors compliance with pertinent policies, regulations and procedures; plans, organizes and supervises K-12 assessment; seeks out and provides research to improve programming, district and school based professional practices; enables the District to continually improve its effectiveness and efficiency in meeting the educational needs of all students. 

REPORTS TO:Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Supports the district-wide assessment process to improve student performance by establishing system testing dates and policies.
  2. Analyzes the level of student achievement of the Core subject areas in order to identify student needs. Provides schools with diagnostic and predictive information in identifying strengths and weaknesses in order to establish priorities in planning educational programs.
  3. Implements state-mandated tests in compliance with state requirements.
  4. Implements and/or obtains national norm-referenced tests and national assessments to measure student progress relative to national progress.
  5. Writes, submits, monitors, and completes any assessment-related proposals to state/federal agencies;
  6. Keeps apprised with state board rules and regulations and legislative mandates dealing with state student assessment;
  7. Facilitates and assists in the development of local assessments that identify student learning patterns and needs.
  8. Coordinates proctoring and administration of tests in the schools.
  9. Establishes test security guidelines for the school system.
  10. Ensures data and test scores are available in multiple formats to meet the needs of the school, district and departmental improvement goals
  11. Analyzes and reports data and test score results to the schools, district, parents, and the public.

 

  1. Coordinates the release of information to our students, parents, and the public through website and links to testing information.
  2. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Areas of Accountability

  1. Serves as the district liaison for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  2. Assists and supports the schools to meet/exceed and interpret the required performance measures at federal, state and local levels.
  3. Assists in formulation, establishment, and implementation of system accountability plans, school benchmarks, and district scorecard to close gaps between and among all students and different groups of students.
  4. Assists our schools and district with data-driven decisions to improve student achievement.
  5. Organizes and presents assessment accountability data to district and school communities.

Research and Resources

 

  1. Interprets and oversees research and research projects
  2. Assists in Processes research support requests submitted for administration and faculty.
  3. Acts as a resource and prepares reports for information for the needs of the Superintendent and School Committee

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits will be based in the Fall River Public Schools and Fall River Administrators' Association Negotiated Contract, Pay Scale IIIA, based on previous experience, degree(s), and credit status. Continued employment is contingent on availability of funds, program need, and job performance.
