Field Supervisor, Nutrition & Food Services
This is an administrative position in the Fall River Public School System, with District-wide responsibilities. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Nutrition & Food Services and includes the following duties and responsibilities of management, supervision and review:
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises Cafeteria Managers and food service personnel in assigned schools.
- Oversees meal service ensuring that meals served in assigned schools meet school district standards and guidelines.
- Conducts annual Accuclaim review in assigned schools.
- Oversees meal counting and documentation in assigned schools.
- Oversees POS operations in assigned schools; training staff on POS operations as needed.
- Instructs managers, assistant managers and other food service personnel in food preparation, food safety, sanitation, cash management, nutrition and other topics as needed for performance of job responsibilities.
- Provides technical support to staff in assigned schools in carrying out position responsibilities.
- Ensures that menu is served as planned.
- Monitors acceptability of menu in assigned schools. Provides feedback on menu to Director and Assistant Director of Nutrition and Food Service.
- Inspects food preparation, display, service, inventory and sanitation conditions in assigned schools.
- Ensures that HACCP procedures are followed in all assigned schools.
- Prepares payroll documents for staff in assigned schools.
- Establishes and maintains effective and harmonious working relationships with students, school personnel and food service personnel. Provides written progress reports on observations and problems observed.
- Conducts annual performance evaluations of cafeteria managers and food service staff in assigned schools.
- Assists in the selection, orientation, placement and training of new personnel and placement of substitute personnel.
- Completes special project assignments as needed.
- Collects data and assists in preparing operational reports and standard procedures.

- Conducts special studies and surveys as needed.
- Practices good ethics in all relations with students, school administration teaching staff, food service staff, purveyors, civic groups and the general public.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Administration, Nutrition, Foodservice Management or equivalent; and/or.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in the foodservice industry of which one (1) must be in a supervisory capacity (part-time work may be pro-rated)
- Registered Dietitian
Terms of Employment: This is a twelve (12) month, fifty-two (52) week per year position.
Conditions of Employment:
- The Field Supervisor shall be employed on an administrative contract basis.
- Salary range: $35,000 - $40,000, depending on experience and qualifications
- General conditions of work will be consistent with the existing administrative employees' agreement; and as such, a twelve (12) month work year is expected with a maximum four (4) weeks vacation (negotiable, based on experience).
- A forty (40) hour work week is anticipated; however time beyond that may be required to meet job requirements.
- Medical leave, personal leave and other allowances shall be consistent with other administrative contracts that are written for administrators in the Facilities & Operations Division of the Fall River Public Schools.
- Continuing employment is contingent on work performance, program need and funding.
