ESL Teacher for Student Assignment

Location: Parent Information Center, BMC Durfee High School

Duration: July-August 2016

• Hours: 25 hours weekly, $31/hour (This position can be shared)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administers language proficiency assessments to identify the English needs of students to ensure accurate placement
• Processes all required W-APT assessment paperwork (k-12)
• Communicates with parents/guardians about student placement decisions
• Coordinates placement of students with Parent Information Center staff
• Interacts with and understands families in ways that create a climate of respect, support, and high expectations
• Respects confidential nature of student records and reports
• Complies with all state and federal requirements applicable to English language learners
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Trained W-APT Administrator
• Organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate electronic records
• Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to English language learners
• Experience collecting and analyzing data, maintaining purple folders
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Bachelor's Degree required in education, ESL/ELL or a related field
  
  EXPERIENCE:
  1-3 years experience working with English language learners
