21st CCLC- Summer Program Nurse (3)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The nurse will work at either of the following schools: William S. Greene Elementary School, Mary L. Fonseca Elementary School or Talbot Innovation School. The summer school session will take place July 2- August 7, 2018 on Mondays through Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. (elementary sites) and 8:00 a.m.-2:30 for Talbot.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a current Massachusetts license to practice as a registered nurse
- Maintain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and First Aid from a recognized provider, i.e. American Heart Association.
- Mature, stable person who enjoys working with children and who demonstrates sound judgment.
REPORTS TO: 21st Century Site Coordinator(s)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

These responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Promotes positive safety practices both within and outside of school
Buildings
- Carries out communicable disease prevention and infection control
based on current guidelines for universal precautions, prevention of blood
born pathogens exposure and hazardous medical waste disposal
- Provides medically prescribed interventions including the administration of medication (based on state and Local Regulations), nursing procedures, and assists with nursing care to the chronically ill children on a daily basis
- Responds to frequently encountered health issues, providing counseling and crisis intervention when required, e.g., responds to child neglect or abuse issues (as required by Massachusetts statute).
- Provides first aid to injured children and staff; provides everyday care of acutely ill children; manages children with communicable diseases
- Required to go on field trips
SALARY
Professional/Instructional Stipend: $31.00/hour per contract.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Position is dependent upon performance and available grant funding.
